Introduction:
Open Awards offers a range of subject specialist qualifications to help meet our company ethos to Change Lives Through Learning. We are looking for subject specialist writers and reviewers who can support developments for the Qualifications Wales National 14-16 Reforms. For the contracted period we are looking for subject specialists in the following areas:
– Personal and social education
– Health and wellbeing
– Humanities
– Employability
– Literacy
– Numeracy
– Science
– Digital Technology Y
You will be required to carry out the following work:
- The production of Open Awards units to an agreed level, total unit time and in line with the Curriculum for Wales framework.
- Produce assessment instruments where necessary including Sample Assessment Materials (SAMs). • Embed cross-curricular skills of literacy, numeracy and digital competence as set out in the Curriculum Wales, the integral skills set out in the Curriculum Wales and understanding of sustainability in the world of work and/or everyday life.
- Embed cross-cutting themes of local, national and international context; diversity; Human Rights and relationships and sexuality education (RSE).
- Embed cynefin throughout the development of units and assessment materials.
- Review units and assessment materials created by other writers to ensure that it meets the requirements set out for writers.
- Participate in feedback sessions via Teams or Zoom, should these be required.
Skills and Experience Required
- Relevant subject specialist knowledge.
- Recent teaching experience and hold a relevant teaching qualification or be working towards. • A sound understanding of assessment.
- Experience of writing teaching materials to assessment criteria.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to produce excellent work to agreed deadlines.
- A commitment to equal opportunities and widening participation.
- The ability to speak or read Welsh would be desirable but is not essential.
This position is on a self-employed basis, and we consider our payment structure to be in line with industry standards.
