Are you a Technical Writer with hands-on SOC (Security Operations Center) experience? We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented professional to support the State of Iowa’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Security Operations Center #(SOC).
As a SOC Technical Writer, you’ll play a key role in standardizing and enhancing documentation, ensuring clarity, consistency, and quality across incident response and cybersecurity operations.
🔍 What You’ll Do:
Develop & standardize SOC documentation:
▪ Computer Security Incident Response Plan (CSIRP)
▪ SOC Incident Playbooks
▪ Incident Reports
▪ RACI Matrices
▪ Web guidance for security incident reporting
Define & document SLAs, MOUs, MOAs for SOC services
Integrate KPIs & reporting dashboards for stakeholders
Provide business & process analysis, functional documentation, and security metrics
Collaborate across diverse teams to capture and clarify technical information
✅ What We’re Looking For:
2+ years as a Technical Writer in a SOC environment (must-have)
4+ years of writing & communication experience: accurate, clear, and audience-adapted
Strong understanding of cybersecurity, project management & incident workflows
Ability to work independently and in collaborative, cross-functional teams
High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality

A translator of complex cybersecurity concepts into simple, actionable documentation
Comfortable managing multiple deliverables with deadlines and attention to detail
Proactive communicator with excellent writing, editing, and structuring skills
