About the Role
Elion Medical Communications is looking for an experienced medical writer with a PhD in biomedical sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or related discipline to join our growing remote writing team.
As an integral member of our writing team, you will be involved in the development of medical/scientific content, including manuscripts, training materials, slide decks, patient resources and congress materials. You’ll work closely with account managers, editors, and designers to ensure content is scientifically accurate, audience-appropriate and strategically aligned. The ability to communicate effectively with clients and client service teams is essential.
This is a remote, part-time position (25 hours per week) for someone based in New Zealand. Flexibility is important, as the role may require occasional early morning or evening calls to support clients and collaborators in the UK or Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Medical Writing
- Research, write and review high-quality, scientifically sound content for manuscripts, training materials, slide decks, patient resources and congress materials
- Ensure content meets internal quality standards, client objectives, and relevant guidelines (e.g. ICMJE, GPP etc.)
- Adapt tone and level of complexity depending on target audience and communication goal
- Reference and fact-check materials using primary sources (e.g. clinical trials, guidelines)
- Work with editors and account teams to refine drafts and finalise deliverables
- Participate in project briefings, client meetings and internal reviews
- Contribute to internal content planning and editorial strategy discussions
What We’re Looking For
- PhD in biomedical sciences, medicine, pharmacy, or related discipline
- 2–3 years’ experience in medical writing, preferably in a healthcare agency or medical communications setting
- Strong understanding of clinical research, drug development processes and publication standards
- Exceptional attention to detail, clarity of writing and scientific accuracy
- Proficiency in referencing software (e.g. EndNote) and Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working remotely
