Key Responsibilities:
- Create and iterate user-centred content that meets GDS guidelines.
- Work within multidisciplinary teams including User Researchers, Service Designers, Interaction Designers, and Developers.
- Conduct and apply user research to guide content decisions.
- Map out user journeys and design content to support the full user experience.
- Champion plain English, accessibility, and inclusive design principles.
- Participate in content critiques, peer reviews, and assure content quality across services.
- Support the wider team in understanding GDS principles and ensuring content meets government standards.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience working as a Content Designer in an agile environment, ideally on UK Government digital services.
- Deep knowledge of GDS service design standards and best practices.
- Strong understanding of user-centered design, accessibility, and content strategy.
- Skilled at simplifying complex information for diverse user groups.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills.
- Experience using content management systems (CMS) and collaboration tools like Confluence, Jira, or similar.
Desirable:
- Previous experience working on Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases within GDS project lifecycles.
- Understanding of prototyping and user-testing methods.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
