Are you obsessed with the weird, the wild, and the downright absurd? Do you have a knack for finding bizarre viral stories? We’re looking for writers who can locate and write up amusing and/or shocking stories featuring public meltdowns, confrontations, and internet-fueled drama. If that sounds like you, we want you on our team!
We’re especially interested in writers who are available on weekends.
What We’re Looking For:
- Writers who can cover strange, controversial, and attention-grabbing human interest stories
- A light, informal, and often mocking tone that shines a spotlight on the absurdity of the situation
- Ability to source trending stories from platforms like Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter
- Strong headline-writing skills. Your titles should grab attention instantly
- Clean, engaging, and fast-paced writing (no fluff, no filler; just sharp, entertaining storytelling)
- Writers who can turn around stories quickly while they’re still trending
Bonus Points If You:
- Have experience writing about viral internet culture, confrontations, or social media drama
- Can match the style of outlets like The Daily Dot, Dexerto, and BuzzFeed News
- Have a good sense of humor and can deliver snappy, shareable content
What You’ll Do:
- Find viral and trending stories that fit our style (we’ll also assign some)
- Write short, punchy articles (400-700 words) with a strong hook and clear narrative
- Add relevant sources, embeds, and links to viral posts when applicable
- Stay on top of trending topics in social media, pop culture, and everyday chaos
