Job alert: We’ve got another great opportunity on the editorial team at National Geographic, a senior editor role in our features department. This group works across print and digital and is charged with developing, commissioning, and editing gripping and urgent stories about how the world around us and our understanding of it is changing. Our editors typically work on stories in multiple subject areas — the natural world, history and culture, science and innovation, and more — though we’d love to find an editor with some experience and interest in a topic like science or medical science, history, archaeology, or technology. Bonus points (not at all required) if you’re a skilled text editor with some experience in multimedia content creation like video or audio. This is a terrific role for someone who loves working with exceptional writers to shape narrative journalism that breaks through the noise to engage readers deeply and meaningfully. And you’d get to work with a talented crew including Geoffrey Gagnon, Ben Paynter, and Matt Skenazy.
The role is based at Nat Geo’s HQ in Washington, DC, where we work on site four days a week. Although it’s on my team, I’m not the hiring manager for this one, and to ensure an equitable hiring process interested candidates should apply via the Disney careers portal and will first be screened by our talent team.
